The Chronicle

A playoff run that will be remembered as one of the most memorable in over a decade came to an end Wednesday night in Quebec City for the Lac St. Louis Lions.

The Dollard des Ormeaux-based Quebec Midget AAA Hockey League Club dropped a 7-1 decision to the Séminaire Saint-François Blizzard in the fifth and deciding game of their best-of-seven Jimmy Ferrari Cup final series. The Lions lost the first three games of the series before coming back to take game four 7-2 on Monday night at their temporary new home, the Pete Morin Arena in Lachine. As had been the case all series, the Blizzard jumped off to a quick 1-0 lead at 1:28 of the first period, but defenceman Danny Biega tied it up at 3:53. It would be the closest the Lions would come to remaining competitive in the game. The Blizzard pulled ahead with goals at 12:43 and 19:48 to lead 3-1 after the opening frame, upped the score to 4-1 after two and proceeded to score three unanswered markers in the third to win the Cup. Penalties hurt the Lions once again. The Blizzard scored three power-play goals in the contest, including two in the first period
