Mummies List keeps Westmount moms connected

Being a mom can be extremely hard, but luckily Westmount moms can count on the Mummies List for a little help.
Launched in 2007, the Mummies List website has become a platform for Westmount moms to exchange information about activities for them and their kids.
“As a new mother, I didn't know what was out there for my child, so I decided to do some research," said the list's founder, Andrea Rich. "I would share that research with some friends, and it kept growing and growing until we now reached 2,500 families.”
The website is updated regularly so that moms can stay up to date with the latest events.
“We have a calendar of events where moms can click on a specific day and see all sorts of activities happening,” Rich said.
But the Mummies List does more than keep moms informed. It also helps them manage their budget with the Mummy Card. The card, which costs $45 per year, gives moms discounts in businesses like clothing stores, hair salons, coffee shops, and summer camps.
“Now in this economy, having children is very expensive so the card saves moms an average of $2,000 per year,” Rich said. “Wherever families go around and buy anything for themselves or their children, they save ten per cent,” she said.
In addition, the Mummy Card helps finance the website and all other profits go towards children's charities.
Rich is now busy preparing the Mummies List next big event: Music in the Park.
“It is an activity that we plan all through the city where we have different entertainers come in and sing to the children, there's a guitar player, [and] we brought a dance class for the kids,” Rich said.
Music in the Park is set to begin at the end of June and moms can sign up online at mummieslist.com.

Comment online since August 31st 2009Yes I have the Mummies list card. However stating that you save an average of $2000 per year is an extreme stretch. Such statements should be verified before being printed. That would mean each family would have to spend at least $20,000 on stuff from the retailers on the list. Not quite realistic, nor average.
