Move over R2D2 and C3PO – The Priory's robotics team is in town!
The Priory has always prided itself as being a school where cooperation and teamwork are highly valued and where self-esteem and independence are the natural results of our nurturing environment.

This was most evident on April 24 and 25, as The Priory robotics team competed in their first-ever robotics competition in Laval. As one of seven elementary schools competing in five different categories, The Priory showed its true mettle by overcoming on- site design and programming challenges through diligence, teamwork and cooperation.

Under the guidance of The Priory’s own Obi-Wan- Kenobi, Anita DiStefano, all five Priory teams collaborated and reaped amazing results. Team Magellan, under captain Zoe Campbell-Hionis’ stewardship, took third place in her event, while Team Slolom, captained by Devin Soosaiheronimus, garnered second place in his obstacle course. Captain Amritpal Padda’s Team Sumo Bot, despite design flaws and a quick rebuilding and reprogramming of his robot just 20 minutes before the finals, managed to not only complete his event but win the finals!

Team Shot Put, captained by Cedrik Moore, catapulted his bean bag a winning 84 cm, capturing the gold medal for Best Event. The Mystery Bot Team, under the leadership of Ben Stix, only received the details of their event on site and successfully completed their challenge which combined with the other team successes allowed The Priory to win the trophy for Best School.

Congratulations to the captains and all of the other members of The Priory Robotics Team: Caterina Alfieri, Alex Torabi, Charles Regimbal, Michael Respicio, Brandon Rudolph, William Roper, HarrisonYue, Aidan Reckziegel.
