Batshaw holds art fundraiser
The Batshaw Foundation, non-profit corporation of concerned volunteers that provides financial support to Batshaw Youth and Family Centres, will hold its third annual fundraising event — a special preview of select paintings by Jennifer Lefort — at Parisian Laundry on Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Lefort, a finalist in this year’s RBC Canadian Painting Competition, will be in attendance. Cocktails and light hors d’oeuvres will be served, and a silent auction will also be held. Parisian Laundry, at 3550 St. Antoine St. W., is a commercial exhibition and project space that champions emerging local, national and international artists. Parisian Laundry will also generously donate a percentage of all sales made at the event to the Batshaw Foundation.
“We are delighted to be hosting a second event at Parisian Laundry, featuring the works of Jennifer Lefort, in support of Batshaw Youth and Family Centres,” said Nicole Mikula, president of the Batshaw Foundation. “Profits generated at our event will go directly towards funding tutoring services for young people in Batshaw’s care who are experiencing difficulty at school. Given the importance of completing high school as a gateway to future opportunity, we believe that there are few better ways to spend this money. We thank our corporate donors for their tremendous support and invite people to come out for an entertaining evening in support of an important cause.”
A total of 500 tickets are available for $100 each, with partial tax credit returns to be issued. The event is expected to sell out and generate about $70,000 through ticket sales, silent auction and corporate sponsorships. All profits will go directly to the Westmount-based Batshaw Youth and Family Centres and will be specifically dedicated to tutoring services for young people.
