Investigation launched after private vehicle crashes at CFB Esquimalt, one dead

VICTORIA - One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a private vehicle crashed into the ocean waters inside a gate at CFB Esquimalt, headquarters of Canada's Pacific Naval fleet.
A statement issued by CFB Esquimalt says a vehicle entered the naval base at 1:30 a.m. without authorization and crashed into the waters inside the gate at Lang Cove.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene and another was transferred to hospital in critical condition.
National Investigation Services along with the Victoria Police are conducting an investigation.
