THUNDER BAY, Ont. - A motorcycle gang clubhouse in Thunder Bay, Ont., deemed to be an "instrument of unlawful activity," has been forfeited to the Crown.
Police say the Hells Angels had used the clubhouse since 2000 after it had been used by the rival Satan's Choice gang. Police raided the site several times since it opened, and between 2004 and 2006, the raids resulted in 27 arrests.
Thunder Bay police chief Robert Herman says the forfeiture is good news because the biker clubhouse "has long been a thorn in our side."
The clubhouse was shut down last September and Thursday's order completed the forfeiture process.
Since late 2003, some $5 million in property has been forfeited to the Crown, producing about $1 million in compensation to crime victims.
