WINNIPEG - Police in Winnipeg have arrested a convicted teenage car thief accused of ditching a GPS-tracking ankle bracelet.
The 17-year-old was ordered to wear the electronic monitoring device as part of sentence for previous auto thefts. Police say they found him inside a stolen vehicle in north Winnipeg.
Three Winnipeg police officers were recently injured in another incident involving a stolen vehicle while they were out searching for the teen.
The 17-year-old has been charged with an additional count of vehicle theft, assault with a weapon, resisting a peace officer, possessing break-in tools and two counts of failing to comply with a sentence.
Two alleged accomplices are also facing charges for failing to comply with court orders.
