P.E.I. parents scramble to get kids to school after fleet of buses parked

CHARLOTTETOWN - P.E.I. parents had to get their children to classes Thursday after the province's fleet of school buses was pulled off the roads for inspection.
The move came after at least 20 older buses failed routine rust inspections. Of the 320 school buses on the Island, 104 were made in 1994 or earlier.
The Transportation Department is using four depots for the inspections, starting with the older buses first.
A spokesman says 40 of the older buses had been inspected by midday, and an automotive engineer from New Brunswick is also checking their work.
It will be later today before officials release the pass or fail rate from the inspections.
The government says they expect enough buses will pass inspection that they can start resuming service Monday.
