Born: May 22, 1924, Paris
Birth Name: Chahnour Varinag Aznavourian
Heritage: Parents were Armenian immigrants who fled to France after the Turkish massacre.
Catalogue: More than 60 movies, and 1,000 songs including recordings in French, English, Spanish and German; more than 100 million records sold.
Charity: Dedicated to humanitarian causes, he shares his artistic talents in support of charitable organizations in Armenia, where he was appointed UNESCO's Permanent Ambassador.
