Dona Cadman sparked a major controversy for Prime Minister Stephen Harper with allegations in a biography of her husband that Conservatives offered the Independent MP a $1-million life-insurance policy as he lay dying in 2005, in exchange for voting with the government.

But Cadman refused to discuss the allegations about the offer or her relationship with the prime minister and party in an interview.

Cadman is the Tory candidate in Surrey North, which the Tories are hoping to retake in the Oct. 14 federal election.

The Cadman affair surfaced again in the first week of the election, cited by the premier of Newfoundland and Labrador to question Harper's integrity.

Prior to hanging up on questions about the allegations, Cadman insisted that the Conservative campaign is going smoothly.
