REGINA - Starting next week, the Saskatchewan government will start to roll out new security measures at the province's courthouses.
As of Monday, anyone entering the courthouse in Prince Albert, Sask., will have to go through a metal detector first.
They could also be checked by security staff with wand-style metal detectors, and hand-held bags will be X-rayed and searched.
Similar measures are also expected to be implemented in the next several weeks in Regina and Saskatoon.
Don Morgan, the province's justice minister, says the measures are designed to improve the safety of judges, lawyers and the public.
