LONDON - British news reports say London police have arrested a suspect in connection with the brutal murders of two French students.
The BBC and other media are reporting that police detained a 21-year-old man on a street in southeast London early Saturday and he is being held at a police station.
Laurent Bonomo and his friend Gabriel Ferez, both 23, were bound and stabbed to death at their apartment in southeast London on Sunday night.
Bonomo was stabbed nearly 200 times while Ferez received nearly 50 stab wounds. Their bodies were then set ablaze to destroy evidence.
Both were promising bioengineering students taking part in a three-month research project in London.
Police say the murders may be linked to a burglary.
