KAMLOOPS, B.C. - A British Columbia father accused in the murders of his three young children had his case put off until July during a court appearance Friday, as lawyers await evidence from the RCMP.
Allan Schoenborn, wearing an orange prisoner jump suit, was silent as he watched the hearing through a video link with a Kamloops court.
Schoenborn is charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his children, aged five to 10, who were found dead in their home in Merritt last month.
Schoenborn was arrested and charged following a 10-day manhunt in Interior B.C.'s thick backcountry.
His lawyer, Peter Wilson, addressed the court by telephone, and the case was adjourned until July 2 as Wilson and the Crown await more disclosure from the Mounties.
Wilson said the adjournment is longer than normal because the large amount of evidence expected means more time is needed to make an intelligent decision about the length of a preliminary inquiry.
Schoenborn is expected to attend his next court appearance in person.
