EDMONTON - Five teenagers are facing charges of aggravated assault after a father was beaten following a minor soccer league game in Edmonton earlier this month.
Police say a fight broke out involving the father of one player and several players from the opposing team.
Dean Smith has said he was trying to calm down angry members of the other team after an aggressive game when he was attacked.
His jaw was wired shut after the assault, in which he says he was kicked several times in the face.
Police say two of the teens charged are 16 years old, two are 17 and one is 18.
They are scheduled to appear in court July 23.
