Police appeal for return of pendant with baby's ashes taken from Ajax home

AJAX, Ont. - Police are appealing to a thief who stole a pendant from a home in Ajax, Ont., that contained the ashes of a couple's infant son.
Durham Region police say the home was broken into sometime Monday, and various items were stolen. Police are particularly appealing for the return of a silver pendant that holds the baby's ashes. Investigators say the couple is devastated and just wants the pendant back.
It's described as circle-shaped, about the size of a toonie, with an engraving of leaves and branches and is on a thin silver chain.
Investigators say they believe the thief didn't realize the sentimental value of the pendant and are appealing for anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers or police.
