City chooses best Halloween decorations
An especially creepy display on Columbia Avenue came out on top in the judging of last week's Halloween home decorating contest in the southern half of Westmount.
Winner Mark Camacho edged out neighbour Beverley Leblanc, who had won the two previous years. North of Sherbrooke Street, the Cohen family of Murray Hill Avenue took first prize. The Camacho and Cohen families will each enjoy a home-catered dinner for six by Simply Wonderful.
Second prize—dinner for four at Java U—went to Joanne Gurman of Roxborough Avenue and Penny Polak of Prospect Street, while the third prize of a gift basket from La Foumagerie were awarded to Heather Zipkin of Forden Crescent and the MacDougall family of Prince Albert Avenue.
According to the City of Westmount, more than 20 households across Westmount participated in the contest, but many excellent displays almost missed out by not registering with the City beforehand. Community Relations Officer James Novak advises that those interested in participating in next year's competition should register with the City in mid-October.
