The Westmount Municipal Association will be holding its annual general meeting in the Lodge Room of Victoria Hall on Monday, May 25, and as in previous years, the meeting will feature an invited guest speaker and the presentation of the annual Derek Walker Volunteer Citizen of the Year Award.
This year, the WMA has announced that Westmount-Ville Marie MP Marc Garneau will be the guest speaker. Well-known as Canada's first astronaut, Garneau easily won the local riding seat last fall, after nearly a year of steady campaigning following the announcement of Liberal MP Lucienne Robillard's retirement from politics. He also writes a monthly column for the Examiner.
The WMA is expected to announce this year's Derek Walker Volunteer Citizen of the Year this week, so the award winner's name will be well publicized prior to the meeting, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in Victoria Hall, 4626 Sherbrooke St. W. For more information, visit the WMA website at
