There were lots of bruises dished out at the Westmount Arena last Saturday as the Westmount Novice A Wings hockey team beat Mont Royal Outremont (MRO) Devils 4 to 3.
Both teams played aggressively, with MRO getting the edge on shots on goal. Westmount goalie Bryan Landsberger shut down powerful MRO onslaughts on many occasions as the fortunes of both sides swung back and forth.
MRO scored first followed shortly after by a powerful goal from Westmount’s leading scorer, Adam Starr. MRO scored next quickly followed by another goal from Starr in the 40th minute. But in less than 60 seconds, MRO retaliated with their third goal. A determined Westmount team rallied hard and were rewarded six minutes later in a rough and tumble in the MRO goal mouth, Henry Molson slammed the game winner firmly behind the MRO netminder.
