Liberals re-launch Garneau campaign
By Stanley Baker
On Monday, Sept. 8, the day we were supposed to be voting in the Westmount-Ville Marie by-election, and one day after the general
election was called for Oct. 14, a large crowd gathered at Liberal candidate Marc Garneau’s campaign office on Greene Avenue to witness the official re-launch of his campaign.
When Dion’s bus arrived, to be met by a cheering crowd, he said a few words of greeting and then led a procession to the grounds of Dawson College, where a stand and mike were set up for him to respond to questions. Being at the scene of the Dawson College tragedy, he spoke about the Liberal Party’s wish, if elected, to ban the sale of hand guns.
He was also questioned about recent polls, showing the poor position of the Liberal Party among the electorate. He dismissed the polls, as not being relevant. Dion will be visiting other ridings’ campaign offices up to election day.
