Trudeau visits The Study
Grade 4 Study student and Westmount resident Katherine Kent wore a red rose on her lapel in honour of the subject of her Heritage Day project: former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau and special visiting guest, his son Justin.
Trudeau, the Liberal Party nominee in the Papineau riding, graciously agreed to comment on Katherine's project and share insights into his late father's career and notably important life lessons he learnt from his much-loved "Papa."

Not only did Trudeau speak about his life in relation to his father, be also shared his passion about his commitment to increase the engagement of Canada's youth towards their country, their communities and their environment.

"Some adults may tell you that you are the leaders of tomorrow, but that is not true, you are the leaders of today. Just because you are young kids doesn't mean that you cannot make changes in your daily lives and influence people that will affect the world right now," Trudeau told the Grade 4 class.

To his delight, and with little prompting, students shot up their hands with suggestions as to how youth can help make a difference in the environment. Spontaneous ideas included using biodegradable products, turning off the water while shampooing your hair, and using environmentally friendly containers rather than plastic bags.

Trudeau was clearly impressed with the environmental knowledge and enthusiasm expressed by 9-year-old Study girls.
