An annual tradition is back again this year in Dorval, as the city’s 23rd Pothole Challenge gets underway on Monday.
Dorval residents and visitors have from April 14 to 18 inclusively to report potholes big enough for a chicken to fit into on any of the city’s paved roads. Not included in the contest, however, are the areas around catch basins, highways or just cracks in the asphalt.

Dorval Mayor Edgar Rouleau will pay the first person to report each pothole $6. The person who reports the biggest pothole by the end of the week will receive an additional $10. There will also be a barbecue dinner for four up for grabs for the person who reports the pothole with “the most character.”

According to information sent out by Dorval’s communication officer Sébastien Gauthier, the cash prizes will come directly out of the mayor’s pocket, and not out of the city’s coffers.

For more information or to report a pothole in Dorval, call 514-633-4040.

An actual pothole has to be big enough for a chicken to fit in.
