Chagnon visits The Study
MNA reviews entries for upcoming Parlement Écolier event
Westmount-St. Louis MNA Jacques Chagnon fielded many stimulating questions while visiting The Study's Grade 6 Univers Social class on Tuesday.
Mr. Chagnon also had the opportunity to review the extensive submission the students prepared together with their Grade 6 French teacher, Mme Turcotte-Bégin, for the 12th Annual Parlement Écolier event this May in Quebec City.
"Wonderful projects!" Chagnon exclaimed as he looked at and listened to projects that included a detailed request for companies to ban trans fats from all foods. "They are ready for the Parlement Écolier as is," he said
The Study students spent the rest of the class eagerly participating in a discussion with Chagnon about the law and his experiences as Vice-President of the Québec National Assembly.
"Great ideas," he told the class before he left. "I hope to see your projects in Québec City."
The Study students hope to present their projects along with 125 other students from Québec schools participating at the Parlement Écolier on May 2. Students will spend the day sitting in Parlement and discussing issues as though they are real members of the National Assembly.
