Bake sale supports local animal shelter
It is an unfortunate reality that animal shelters are a necessity due to the overwhelming number of homeless animals in need of food and shelter. In Montreal, the animal shelters are overburdened and drastically under founded.
Sophie's Dog Adoption, though not an animal shelter in the most common understanding, offers this much required rescue and shelter. Sophie's is a little different in the sense that shelter is found in the form of foster care. A dog in need is never refused. Very importantly, Sophie's Dog Adoption is a "no kill" rescue where euthanasia is not an option.

The upcoming bake sale at Naturalanimal and Pawtisserie on Jan. 26 and 27 will help raise funds for Sophie's Dog Adoption, specifically Sophie's collaboration with another animal shelter BETA (Beirut for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). BETA is an association based in Lebanon that rescues traumatized animals abandoned in the recent war, animals that most likely will not find homes there. Working together with BETA, Sylvie Lavoie, BETA co-founder and Sophie Fournier founder of Sophie's Dog Adoption have been able to bring five dogs to Montreal to date.

Angel was the first rescued dog and was promptly found a foster home than an adoption home. Since then, four more dogs have been brought over; Sunny, Kito, Leslie, and Bodi. Leslie has been adopted so three dogs remain. Sophie and Sylvie, are both committed to finding good, peaceful homes for these animal survivors who have suffered and witnessed the horrors of war. For example, one of the dogs is having a difficult time adjusting due to the countless atrocities he has encountered.

Sophie's Dog Adoption will not give up on these animals but admittedly needs help with the enormous costs such as medical bills. Please help support this amazing endeavour by buying some yummy goods at the bake sale. The extraordinary treats can do you good while you do good for this great cause.

Naturalanimal and Pawtisserie encourages many shelters with their work by providing a venue for adoption days and fundraising such as this bake sale for Sophie's Dog Adoption. The bake sale will take place this weekend, Jan. 26 and 27, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 4932B Sherbrooke St. W., corner of Claremont Avenue.
