Infinitheatre 'fun’raiser' picks next prime minister or plumber
After four years of murder and mayhem as the backdrop for its 'fun’raising; event, local troupe Infinitheatre has unearthed new fodder for their annual theatrical celebration — Montreal Idle, a musical spoof on the rich and fertile ground of those reality talents shows that inundate our airwaves.
Penned by noted artist Tex Dawson, known for his contributions to the raucous scripts of The Fossils, Montreal Idle is designed to abuse and amuse local audiences.

Under the expert eye of veteran musical director Randy Davies, the cast of over 30 features many noted local executives, plucked from the Montreal business community, performing shoulder-to-shoulder with a wide range of professional entertainers.

One of the many featured performers is Andy Dodge, the well-known Examiner columnist and real estate appraiser.

The rest of the talented cast hails from all corners of the Greater Montreal region, including two from Westmount — Gus O'Gorman and Heidi Luber Tellier.

O'Gorman is a radiologist who divides his time between the Montreal Children’s Hospital and Westmount Square Medical Imaging. He always shoots the works in the various incarnations he has adopted for his annual appearance in the ‘fun’raiser'.

Since working as a volunteer Infinite performer for the past four years, Luber Tellier has caught the acting bug. When she’s not running Lubertex, the family business on the Plateau, she studies the craft seriously and dreams of making it her second career.

Montreal Idle promises to have something for everyone. The added bonus for all is that the winner of Montreal Idle gets to be prime

minister of Canada for a day or…the plumber in charge of the Segal Centre washrooms, whichever he or she prefers.

Now in its 11th year, Infinitheatre is one of the major forces behind the English theatre scene. A large part of its financial stability rests in the hands of the public. The annual fundraising play is the most important event in securing the funds necessary to sustain Montreal’s premiere English-language ‘risk’ theatre company, dedicated to the discovery, development and brokering of new Quebec plays.

• Montreal Idle by Tex Dawson, directed by Randy Davies, will be performed at the Leanor and Alvin Segal Theatre, 5170 Cote St. Catherine Rd., on Sunday, Jan. 6 at 2 p.m., and Jan. 8, 9 and 10 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $100 (tax deductible) and are available through the box office at 514-987-1774 ext. 104 or box-office@infinitheatre.com. Donations may also be made to Infinitheatre, 5413 Boul. St-Laurent, #302, Montreal, Qc, H2T 1S5.
