SWAT team returns for annual hockey fundraiser
The Westmount Old Timers Hockey team (SWAT) will be holding its 19th annual Tournoi this weekend at the Westmount arena, beginning tonight and running through Sunday afternoon.
The concept for the SWAT Tournoi arose from the late Nicolas Matossian. At the age of 15, Nicolas decided to help future generations of children to survive brain cancer, and organized numerous fund-raising activities for the benefit of two hospitals, the Montreal Children’s and Hôpital Ste-Justine.
This Tournoi is possible due to the support of the many dedicated Westmount retailers who continue to provide program advertising and supplies for the Tournoi, and the contributions of advertisements, donations and products from numerous corporations and professionals.
Throughout the Tournoi period at the arena, Westmounters can add their bids in the SWAT silent auction for the following merchandise, to help raise additional funds for this year’s Tournoi: The game opportunity of a lifetime: a two-hour hockey game with friends at the Bell Centre – your team vs the Gazette team on March 27, donated by The Gazette. As well, there will be an autographed NHL sweater offered by the Reebok Hockey company; five high-quality outdoor jackets donated by In-Sport; original artwork donated by AvenueArt.ca; two tickets to the awesome Montreal Jubilation Choir on Saturday, Dec. 15, donated by Justin Time Records; as well as blues, jazz, world and electronica CDs and DVDs also donated by Justin Time Records; headphones donated by SF Marketing and two fruit baskets donated by Metro Westmount and Graham Fletcher.
