The end of this school year will also be a new beginning for Miss Edgar’s and Miss Cramp’s School (ECS), for the private girls' school on Mount Pleasant Avenue will be undergoing considerable renovations over the coming summer, school officials announced this week.
According to Head of School Katherine Nikidis, renovations will be carried out on the junior school and the Nancy Gurd Multimedia Centre, as well as the gym and chemistry/physics lab. The plans, she said, are expected to enhance the ECS environment and make it more flexible, without compromising the essential character of the school.

Funded by ECS's 'Inspiring Girls: Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow' capital campaign, the renovations are scheduled to begin this week.

“We are small in size, big in ideas, and we will remain that way," said Nikidis. "We know our parents, alumnae, staff, friends, and students value being part of a close-knit community. This capital campaign provides an opportunity to renew our educational environment, supporting the wonderful programs and people we have in place.”

While the timeline is admittedly tight, the school administration is confident that the work will be finished in time for September, when they plan to open the new year with a series of events, including tours of the new facilities.

With $1.5 million raised for the ECS Bursary Fund, and almost $2.6 million raised for the infrastructure projects, fundraising for the 'Inspiring Girls' campaign will continue throughout the next school year as the ECS community works together to meet its ultimate goal of $5 million.
