Soirée de Danse hits Vic Hall June 9
Victoria Hall will be filled with music and movement next Saturday, June 9 when the Westmount Sports and Recreation Department puts on the seventh annual Soirée de Danse.
Sheila Lawrence has produced the show for seven years, and the idea of donating the proceeds to the Montreal Children’s Hospital came from the care that her grandson, in his 17 years of life, received from the institution over the years.
The show grew out of a desire to showcase the talents of the adult intermediate and advanced Ballet and Jazz Dance classes offered at Victoria Hall throughout the year. The evening is a showcase of students, professional, semi-professionals, teachers alike who will perform ballet, tap, modern, jazz ballet and breakdancing to name a few.
Performers include Breakdance teacher K8 Alsterlund and her troupe, the Next Level, modern dance teacher and choreographer Michelle Ruth Zitomer, children’s ballet teacher Joanie Moreau with her dance partner, John Beales, choreographer and modern dancer Chantale Desgroseillers, and the multi-talented Shauna Feldman and Julia Pritchett. Alexandra Sojo will be dancing to music written and performed by Westmount resident Matthew Stern.
The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 9 at Victoria Hall, 4626 Sherbrooke St. W. Admission at the door is $7 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
