The Westmount Ravens rugby team will hold a family day fundraiser this Saturday, Aug. 6, in Westmount Park, and they are inviting the community to come out and enjoy grilled hamburgers and hot dogs while taking in a rugby-filled day.

Topics :
Westmount Rugby Club , Raven , Montreal Exiles , Westmount , Canada , U.S.

Kids 8 to 12 are invited to play in the mini rugby match starting at 10 a.m. Amateur and experienced players, 35 and over, are encouraged to participate in the Old Boys game, immediately following, at 11 a.m.

For the main event, the Raven's senior team will battle the Montreal Exiles from NDG.

Former Westmount players will have a chance to reconnect with old friends, including club president Tony O'Driscoll, coaches Henry Rozenblat and Mike Hogan, club secretary Peter Marcovitz, fundraiser Peter Howlett, and Old Boys liaison Raymond Bessette.

Festivities are expected to continue later at the Pepsi Forum Sports Bar, where there are plans to watch the live broadcast of the Canada vs. U.S. rugby match at 2 p.m.

So whether you're a sports enthusiast or just curious about rugby, all Westmounters are urged to come out and lend their support for their local team. All proceeds will go towards the Westmount Ravens and their youth development projects.

Sounds like fun. I used to play rugby in high school. I'll bring my kids along!
