Décor Marie-Paule closes after 35 years in Westmount

Paula Pedicelli and Mary Pietracupa, the well-known proprietors of Décor Marie-Paule, have decided to close their business after 35 years in the Victoria Village. "It's time to say goodbye and thank you for your patronage," they said in a recent letter sent out to all clients. "We have new mountains to climb and new horizons that beckon."

What began as a hobby and dream for two young mothers back in 1975 grew into a successful venture that quickly became an institution in the Westmount business community. But now, the two long-time business partners are both grandmothers and have decided to close their two Décor Marie-Paule stores — one in Westmount at 4918 Sherbrooke St. and one on Laurier Street West.

And despite having mixed emotions over the closings, they have decided to go out with a bang and have been holding a huge closing sale — offering customers one last chance to drop in, say goodbye and take advantage of great prices on linens and bedding. "It has been a very exciting and creative journey, and we have truly enjoyed every minute of it," they said in thanking their many customers. "We very much appreciate the confidence, loyalty and support you have so graciously given us over the years."
