City announces Olympic Torch relay committee members

As part of preparations for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay, the City of Westmount has announced the members of the local Torch Relay committee, who will be working in collaboration with the City to prepare for the torch's arrival in Westmount on Dec. 10.

The membership of the volunteer committee reflects a true cross-section of the community. With members of all ages and from many walks of life, the committee is well equipped to welcome the torch to Westmount. The group will be responsible for organizing special events and activities related to the Torch Relay, as well as getting the word out to all corners of Westmount.

The members are as follows:

Caroline Beaudry: A Claremont Avenue resident, and an avid watcher and fan of the Olympics since she was a little girl, Caroline has always wondering what it would be like to play a role in the games.

Bryna Cohen: Sharing the excitement of the Olympic spirit is Bryna, a De Maisonneuve Boulevard resident with creative ideas for the committee. For Bryna, Westmount asking for the constituents to help with this committee is the epitome of why she loves this city.

Elliot Grenier: Resident of Victoria Avenue, Elliot is a 10-year old sports fan who plays hockey, baseball, soccer, tennis and lacrosse. His youthful excitement will be an important addition to the committee.

Andrew Macdougall: A local sports coach and volunteer, Andrew represent the Westmount Scouts, and is excited to work as a link between the committee and the boys and girls involved in scouting in our community.

Katherine Nikidis: As head of Miss Edgar's and Miss Cramp's School, Katherine is ideally placed to act as an effective and eager liaison with local schools in order to get Westmount's youth involved.

Julian Prince-Finkelstein: A 15-year-old resident of Kensington Avenue, Julian is grateful for any opportunity to share the Olympic spirit with fellow residents.

Stephen Simco: An active athlete and community supporter, Stephen is honoured to be associated with Westmount's Torch Relay Committee.
