Two candidates who had intended to run in the aborted September federal by-election have dropped out of the race, and three more have tossed in their hats into the Westmount-Ville Marie ring.

Gone from the running are independent candidates Régent Millette and Andrew Wattie, while members of the Communist, Marxist-Leninist, and Rhino parties have come forward to declare their candidacy.

As of last Thursday's nomination deadline, Westmounters will now have a total of nine candidates to choose from on election day, Oct. 14: Guy Dufort (Conservative Party of Canada), Marc Garneau, (Liberal Party of Canada), Claude William Genest (Green Party of Canada), Anne Lagacé Dowson (New Democratic Party), Charles Larivée (Bloc Québécois), David S. Rovins (Independent), Bill Sloan (Communist Party of Canada), Linda Sullivan (Marxist-Leninist Party of Canada), and Judith "Mata-Hari" Vienneau (Rhino).
