Aberdeen Avenue resident A.K. Velan was recognized for more than 50 years of active service to the Rotary Club of Montreal at a special luncheon ceremony on May 26.

Velan was presented with the Club's prestigious Centennial Award "in honour and recognition of his long and distinguished service to humanity, and for being one of our Club's Great Rotarians of the Century."

The ceremony took place at the St. James Club downtown, where Montreal Mayor Gérald Tremblay was on hand to receive an honourary membership and to present Velan with the Centennial Award. Keynote speaker at the luncheon was U.S. Consul General Lee McClenny.
