Westmount is noted for its many dog lovers and excellent facilities for our canine friends. There are several dog runs in the city, where dogs can run free within an enclosed area. But when The Examiner put out the word that we were looking for residents' favourite dog-walking spot as part of the popular Best of Westmount series, the nominations were unanimous by last Friday's noon deadline — Summit Park.
The expansive wooded area at the top of the hill offers an idyllic setting for a daily romp, either alone or in the company of other dogs. Though subject to seasonal leash laws, Summit Park is a beautiful spot not only for dog owners, but also those who appreciate nature.
And this rural oasis in the middle of the city is not just used by residents of upper Westmount, for it's quite common to see dog and owner emerge from a car to begin their walk through the park.
Next week, the Examiner's judges will report on the best sweet treat in Westmount. Nominate your choice by phoning our office at 514-484-5610 or by sending an email to newspaper director Nancy Macdonald at nancy.macdonald@transcontinental.ca or editor Wayne Larsen at larsenw@transcontionental.ca. Nomination deadline is this Friday, Nov. 7 at noon. Results will be published in next week's Examiner.
