Where is the best place in Westmount to get good pizza? The answer is unanimous — Copoli's Restaurant.
The popular neighbourhood eatery on Ste. Catherine Street at Metcalfe Avenue received the most nominations from readers, in fact two very good pizza restaurants were recommended to us — Copoli's and Avin Pizza on Ste. Catherine Street, across from Alexis Nihon Plaza.
Of the two pizzas our judges sampled, Copoli came out on top, with the ideal amounts of ingredients and cheese. "It has an excellent mix of toppings and is very moist," commented one judge.
But the Copoli crust was what really impressed our judges. "Thin crust can sometimes be too thin and crunchy," was one comment, 'but this crust was the perfect balance between thin and thick crust."
"The sesame seeds are a nice touch," added another.
Avin Pizza also scored high. "The green pepper on top allowed for crunchy veggies," wrote one judge. "The perception of two-for-one pizza does not apply here."
"Avin's pizza is thicker, with a good topping of cheese," said another judge. "It will appeal to anyone who really likes to taste their pepperoni."
Next week our judges will check out Westmount's Best-Kept Secret Location, the results of which will be published in our Oct. 9 issue. Nominations for that category will be accepted until noon on Friday, Oct. 3.
