For many years Westmounters have enjoyed taking a picnic lunch down to the lagoon in Westmount Park to enjoy an afternoon of music. Once again this summer impresario Bob Burman had choreographed a series of concerts that will satisfy music aficionados of all genres. The concerts will begin this Sunday July 11 at 2 p.m. with entertainment from L'ensemble Du Carré St-Louis.

Since its formation in 1982, the trio comprised of a flutist, cellist and guitarist has presented its extensive repertoire of classical jazz, popular and traditional music in 15 European and South American countries in addition to Canada. In case of rain the venue moves indoors to Victoria Hall. For more information phone Virginia at community events at 514-989-5265

Exhibition of works by Westmount employees at the Gallery at Victoria Hall

“The Gallery at Victoria Hall, with its strong commitment to serving the community of local artists, is the perfect venue for this event,” says gallery curator Victoria LeBlanc.

“This exhibition represents an opportunity to view another side of those individuals who daily serve the Westmount community but no less an opportunity for the artists to share their passion with a larger public.”

The exhibition consists of works that include photography, watercolours, acrylics on canvas, Indian ink and oil on steel plate by 11 Westmount employees from communications to public works to recreation to community events departments and more. Launched at a unique lunchtime vernissage last week so that employees as well as invited guests could attend, the exhibition continues until July 30.The Gallery at Victoria Hall is located at 4626 Sherbrooke Street West. For more information phone 514-989-5265.

A call for donations of plants

If you are a local gardener and have just too many plants, the Atwater Library volunteer gardening team would love to take care of them. The grounds are quite lovely but there is room in the flower beds for more perennials and annuals. If you have anything you would like to give contact building manager Wayne Briand at wbriand@atwaterlibrary.ca or 514-935-7344.
