The Rotary Club of Westmount got to know one of its newer members recently when Josée St. Pierre, manager of the Scotia Bank on Greene Avenue, gave her much-anticipated classification talk to the membership and guests.

St. Pierre shared from her heart a three-point talk: her career in banking, some impressive information about the Scotia Bank, and some candid information about her private life. After an accidental foray into the world of banking in the early seventies, St. Pierre found her niche at Scotia Bank and several years ago she was offered the position as manager in Westmount. In addition to being able to work directly with the public and the staff, she appreciates the philanthropy of the bank both locally and internationally. St. Pierre impressed the membership with statistics of what the bank invests in the lives of people right here in our community and internationally, especially in Central and South America and the Caribbean. She is particularly proud of the bank’s local initiative to help integrate new Canadians in our country’s financial system.

Citizenship evening in Westmount The Rotary Club of Westmount will have the honour of hosting a Citizenship Ceremony on Thursday, June 18, at 7 p.m. in Victoria Hall. The ceremony will be presided over by George Springate, chief judge of the Citizenship Court. In addition to witnessing the swearing in of 40 new Canadians, Rotary members will have an opportunity to renew their vows as Canadians. During the ceremony, the club will present each new Canadian with an inscribed book of Canadian scenes from coast to coast. Westmount citizens, especially students, are encouraged to attend this very moving ceremony, which will no doubt remind us of the privilege of being Canadian citizens. Stevens to speak at Shaar

The Lunchtime Series program begins at 12:30 p.m. Bring your lunch and enjoy. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, phone Tanya at 514-935-7344.
