The Westmount Old Timers Hockey team (SWAT) will be holding its 20th annual Tournoi this weekend, beginning Thursday night and running through Sunday afternoon, with eight teams participating at the Westmount Arena, according to co-chairs Jim West and Norm Richer.

The Ken Sinclair leadership award will be presented by Jon Feldman, to an unsuspecting but deserving SWAT player and Tournoi leader.

The concept for our SWAT Tournoi arose from the inspiration of the late Nicolas Matossian. At the age of 15, Nicolas decided to help future generations of children to survive brain cancer, and organized numerous fund-raising activities for the benefit of the Montreal Children's and Hôpital Ste-Justine.

These Tournois are successful due to the unfailing support of the dedicated Westmount retailers who each year provide program advertising and supplies for the Tournoi, and the contributions of advertisements, donations and products from numerous corporations and professionals from the greater Montreal community.

Throughout the Tournoi period at the arena, Westmounters can add their bids in the SWAT silent auction, to be conducted under the auspices of Claude Bismuth (a power forward on the SWAT team) for the following merchandise, to help raise additional funds during this year’s Tournoi:

Logitec: i) cordless keypad/mouse, ii) speaker system with woofer, and iii) usb headset, donated by Microbytes-CentreVille, 12 Reebok hockey sticks offered by ReebokHockey Company; two ladies’ wool coats and two jackets, medium and large of each, donated by Mitchell Steinberg; two men’s Postcard high quality winter jackets (large), donated by In-Sport; two tickets to the awesome Montreal Jubilation Choir in December, an assortment of CDs, donated by Justin Time Records, Shure SE110 earphones, donated by SF Marketing; four fruit baskets, donated by Metro Westmount and Graham Fletcher; Haier 1.8cu ft compact refrigerator, with 200 liter bottle door storage, donated by Bismuth Consulting, and one round of golf (foursome), donated by the Fontainbleau Golf Course.
