Members of Westmount's Novice A Wings are anything but deterred after falling short of victory last Saturday afternoon against NDG at the Westmount Arena.

The fledgling team lost 7-1, but this was only a preseason warm-up game and there was lots of action.

The NDG squad wasted no time in slipping the puck into the back of the Wings' net within the first couple of minutes, but the young Wings fought back and within a few minutes scored a spectacular goal — a solo effort from Adam Starr, which got them back in the game.

The score remained 1-1 for the first period, but NDG popped in two more goals in the second. The Wings started to look tired, leaving gaping holes in their defence, and the third period didn't get any better for them, as their opponents hammered home four more goals.

The Wings showed some real talent and had several good tries at goal. Overall, it was a good effort — but they will have to focus on controlling the puck and quickly clearing it out of their zone. This was a good warm-up for the season opener, which takes place next Sunday in Mont Royal.

Lots of excitement and lots of action. Come out and cheer them on next week.
