Check your eco-footprint, get tips on lawn care, green waste bags, safe surfing for teens, and cyber-bullying notes for parents. Door prizes will be among the exhibits and activities offered by the Westmount Healthy City Project at its kiosks at Family Day in Westmount Park this Saturday, May 30. “Each year, volunteer members try to present exhibits that reflect the varied interests of the Healthy City Project”, said Tom Thompson, chair of the steering committee. “They have excelled themselves this year with emphasis on Westmount’s green strategy”.

Environment Committee Chair Jennifer Patton has arranged a drawing for indigenous plants and a tree, while the Public Works Department has again donated a composter as a prize. Other prizes associated with environment activities include a permaculture tree, native plants for both shade and sun sites, and assorted surplus items from last week’s plant exchange.

The Healthy City Project's Community Life Committee will preview its new cyber-bullying awareness. Kits produced by the federal government will be offered, and Kathy Kaufman and Barbara Moore will coordinate a 'safe surfing for teens' project — an issue that is of growing concern.

Mollie Anderson returns to present her new collection of ‘fish friendly’ non-toxic household products, and another highlight will be Sustainability Coordinator Joshua Wolfe who will give an assessment of your eco footprint — for which you must know the square footage of your home.
