Students from The Priory recently proved that everyone in the community really can make a difference.

The grade 6 members of the school’s SWAT team (Students Working to Advance Technology) decided to put their technical skills to work and produced a personalized Priory Christmas concert video professional enough to be sold to parents, grandparents and friends. In doing so, they would raise money for charity.

Organization was key to the project's success, and to this end the team divided themselves up into committees. Working closely with teacher Anita DiStefano, the student team included photographers and videographers William Roper and Brad Powell, Aiden Reckziegel, Nicholas Cherbaka and Thea Palmer, who were in charge of sales, marketing and publicity. Jade Zeng was head of the art department overseeing the design of the DVD cover, and worked with Reda Belhadfa in copies and distribution, while editors Ben Stix and Matheus DaSilva, were responsible for the end product. The video sold 67 copies and raised a total of $1,447 for a good cause — the St. Gabriel’s Parish food bank.
